Microsoft Responds to Feedback: Reverses DRM Policies for the New Xbox
Gamers around the world were extremely disappointed with Microsoft’s recent decision to make the Xbox One requiring an internet authentication every 24 hours. What made the fans even angrier were the restrictions upon sharing and selling games. After listening to the horrible feedback they received, Microsoft has decided to change its policies to give the gamers what they want.
Rumors started to emerge just yesterday that Microsoft is looking to go for more gamer-friendly choices; and now this has been confirmed on Microsoft’s official website. You can view the post here.
The new policy states that Xbox One will require an internet connection for a one-time setup only; after which the gamers will be able to play offline games for as long as they like, without any further authentication checks. Regional restrictions have also been lifted, and all games can now be played with a console of any region.
Gamers will also be able to trade, resell, gift and lend their disc-based games, without any restrictions as with the Xbox 360. Buying used games will also be permitted.
Moreover, gamers can even download games from Xbox Live, the day they are released and playing them offline won’t be a problem. However, family sharing of Xbox Live games is gone now. Gamers who download their games from Xbox Live will not be able to share them as previously planned.
The announcement posted by Microsoft this afternoon was a bit of a shock to everyone as it had defended its previous policy, just a few days back at E3, arguing that gamers who do not have an internet connection should “just buy an Xbox 360”.
This was a crucial decision from the Xbox team, but it may be too late for Microsoft as many gamers have turned on to Sony. For now, we can only wait and see what happens.

Sony Chooses Gamer-Friendly Options For Its Newest Console
Sony recently unveiled few new features of its PS4 Console at the E3 2013. The company is trying to get the gamers by their side through offering the most user-friendly features; primarily to win the gaming battle against Microsoft. The first thing announced was the price; PS4 will cost $100 less than its main competitor Xbox One, for a price of $399. PS4 console is not only cheaper than Xbox One, but has also allowed the sale and purchase of disc-based games, without any restrictions.
It does not require any internet connection for single-player games to be authenticated or activated. This thing in Xbox One was criticized by many.
The design of the console was also unveiled ― rectangular and black with matte and glossy finishing on different sides. The design is quite similar to the Xbox One, but is smaller and can fit into lesser spaces.
Also, PS4 is faster than Xbox One, with more support for developers; hence indie game developers chose PS4 over the Xbox One. This makes a wide variety of games available for the console, making gamers even more satisfied. Many large development companies will provide exclusive content in their games only for PS4. The console is also rumored to natively support 4K streaming, something that is not expected from Xbox One.
Sony has tried to capitalize on Microsoft’s restrictions on gamers by making their decisions wisely and so far, it seems they are succeeding. The amount of pre-orders for PS4 is extremely high and if things stay the same, Sony will definitely defeat Microsoft in sales.
